Advanced Wrestling

As one of the oldest wrestling clubs in the state of New Mexico, our mission goes beyond winning. We're committed to developing young athletes as both competitors and individuals through long-term athletic development.
We build character first, then athleticism from the ground up. Our program emphasizes integrity, perseverance, respect, fun, and teamwork alongside wrestling techniques, prioritizing foundational body control so kids can safely and confidently execute moves.

As a program based in the South Valley, we strive to provide a safe, inclusive environment where every person, regardless of skill level, gender, race, ethnic background, religious beliefs, sexual preferences or physical abilities will be accepted and appreciated. Wrestling is fun, but it is also a difficult sport; any person willing to come to practice and do the work will earn, and be shown, the proper respect. We are excited to welcome all to our wrestling community to be part of our family.

Olivia has been with the Ravens for three years and has demonstrated exemplary improvement. In 2026, she took State Crown in commanding fashion. Her single leg is near unstoppable!

Paisley is a natural athlete with one of the best double legs you’d ever see. She is a back to back State Champion with a great attitude, always having fun at practice and is a great teammate.

2X New Mexico State Champion in 2024 and 2025.
Chris is a talented individual with tremendous drive and will. He is hard working and competitive with one of the hardest brackets in the State. He made the finals in only his second season.

Meet our coaches
Coach Charlie Padilla
Head Coach
Coach Padilla is a 2008 Rio Grande High School Alumni with nearly a decade in coaching experience as a high school and Jr. wrestling coach. He is a 3X high school State Placer, 2008 New Mexico State Champion and Athlete of the Year. He is Copper, Bronze, and Teal certified with USA Wrestling.
Coach Chris Bentacu
Assistant Coach
Coach Bentacu is a 2009 Rio Grande High School Alumni in his third year coaching. He was a 2009 state placer and Athlete of the Year recipient. In additional to wrestling, he also coaches baseball. He has tremendous discipline and work ethic to invest in the Ravens. Chris enjoys weight lifting and sending time with his three boys and his wife.
Coach Jordan Bojorquez
Assistant Coach
Coach Bojorquez is a 2008 Rio Grande High School Alumni in his second year coaching with the Ravens. He started coaching when his daughter joined. He is Bronze certified with USA Wrestling and CPR/First Aid certified.
Coach Stephanie Padilla
Assistant Coach
Coach Padilla is a 2010 Rio Grande High School Alumni in her third year coaching. She has a Master’s Degree in Special Education and she is CPR and First Aid certified.
Coach Monica Spurlock
Assistant Coach
Coach Spurlock is a 2001 Rio Grande High School Alumni and Athlete of the Year. Her collegiate softball experience laid the foundation for her coaching career an she is proud to celebrate her 25th year of coaching this season. She is a Registered Nurse and has a Master’s Degree in Business. Her biggest fans and proudest achievements are her six children and her husband.
Coach Joe Torres

Coach Torres is a Rio Grande High School Alumni in his fourth year of coaching. He wrestled for 13 years and wrestled Varsity for the Ravens for all four years. He has also reffed in the State of New Mexico for three years.
Coach Aaron Trujillo

Coach Trujillo has been part of the Raven Wrestling community since he was a youth wrestler from 5 years to his senior year in high school. He has four years coaching experience.
